Clean Up After Your Pet
First and most importantly pick up after your pet. This makes the park cleaner, more sanitary, and more visually appealing.
There are times when you don't always see them going or maybe you don't have a bag on hand but that's not an excuse. Owners typically know what times and when their dogs go so if you don't catch them in the act you can always pick up other dog waste to pay it forward.
If you don't have a bag there are plenty available at the park and if those are empty ask someone else at the park for one. The majority of people will happily oblige.
Do Not Feed Other People's Dogs
Owner's train their dogs differently, feed them differently, and have different dietary/medical needs. You should never assume it is okay to feed a dog anything (event dog treats) if it is not your pet.
It takes just a brief second to ask the owner if it's okay to feed their pet and is exceptionally easy to follow their wishes.
Dogs Must Be Vaccinated
This is straight forward and needs no explanation. No, the vaccinations will not give your dog autism.
No Dogs in Heat
When a female dog is in heat her presence can create fights and generally cause a number of problems with the other dogs. If you're unsure whether or not your dog is in heat assume they are.
No Aggressive Dogs
This is not geared towards certain breeds of dogs but is directed at the demeanor of the pet. If your pet is constantly starting fights and attacking other dogs they should not be at the park.
There is a very notable difference between rough play and fighting. Many dogs play by biting cheeks, pawing, being verbal, and wrestling. This is okay behavior as long as both owners are comfortable.
The other scenario is where a dog is not playing but attacking in a very deliberate manner. This display is very obvious and should be handled immediately.
Be Attentive to Your Dog
Make sure that you keep an eye on your dog while at the park. We encourage everyone to socialize with the other owners and enjoy themselves but it's important to watch your dog while doing so.
This is not a place to simply let your dog do anything they want until you're ready to leave. You're responsible for their actions while at the park.
Keep an Eye on Kids
Infants, toddlers, and even bigger children can easily be harmed by dogs crashing into them. Owners cannot do much to prevent this and the responsibility lies with the parents to make sure their children stay safe. If you make the decision to bring your children to the park please look closely after them to prevent any injuries.
